Official MS is BS Rest Stop Location

Sunday, October 4th
8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Rocky Run Park

After you finish the rest stop, join everyone at the Pre-Finish at Washington Monument to walk to the finish line.  The theme for our rest stop is “MS is BS Slamma Jamma: We Take No Prisoners” – come in guard uniforms, prison uniforms, or wearing a whole lot of orange.

Friday, October 2nd

Packet Pickup & Carbo-Load Party
Check in for the walk and have a bowl of noodles for a cause. 25% of all proceeds to benefit the Capital Challenge Walk MS.

Saturday, October 3rd

START
George Mason University – Field House
4400 University Drive (intersection of Ox Rd & University Dr)
Fairfax, VA  22030

ROUTE – approx 21 miles
Participants will walk through the beautiful neighborhoods and communities of Fairfax & Arlington, VA.
Lunch is provided by CHICK-FIL-A. Rest Stops will be fully stocked with water, sports drinks, snacks
and fruit.  Standard and accessible portojohns will be found at every stop.

OVERNIGHT
Participants will be welcomed by crew, volunteers and staff to the overnight. YOU MUST CHECK-IN
WHEN YOU ARRIVE! This facility hosts the HUGE gym we will be sleeping in, as well as a recreation
center, showers, and plenty of space for massages, footbaths, and First Aid. Dinner is being provided
by URBAN BBQ (back by popular demand). We will have our candlelight ceremony in the evening
after dinner. Following the candlelight you will have the opportunity to register for 2010 as well as
socialize with fellow participants in the Love Lounge (with snacks, games, and movies).

9:00 a.m.                     All walkers must be on route
3:00 p.m.                     Snacks & Games available – Love Lounge
3:00 – 10:00 p.m.     Shower Truck Available (showers in the Center are available 24 hours)
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.       Concierge desk open at overnight
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.       Massages & footbaths available at overnight
4:00 – 4:30 p.m.       Yoga Class #1 with Laura Starling – far end of gymnasium
4:30 – 5:00 p.m.       Yoga Class #2 with Laura Starling – far end of gymnasium
5:00 – 7:30 p.m.       Dinner is served!
6:30 p.m.                    Route closed (any walkers still on route will be SAG’d to the overnight)
8:15 p.m.                     Candlelight Ceremony
9:00 p.m.                    2010 Registration; Movies, Snacks, Fun – Love Lounge
9:30 p.m.                    Quiet time in the Gym

Sunday, October 4th

START
Get your day started with a yummy and filling breakfast provided by the MS OHANA TEAM! Don’t
forget to STRETCH and CHECK-OUT before you hit the road.

ROUTE – approx. 10 miles
Participants will walk through more Arlington neighborhoods before crossing into Washington
D.C. Lunch will be provided by SUBWAY at the “Pre-Finish” location. All participants will gather here
for lunch & awards before walking as a group the final stretch to the US Capitol. A shuttle will be
available for those who need it and will drop off about 2 blocks from the Finish so the group can
complete the journey together.

7:00 – 8:00 a.m.          Breakfast available
8:00 a.m.                       Stretches with Lesley Spalding/Lena Wang – DON’T FORGET TO CHECK-OUT
8:30 a.m.                       Route Opens
8:45 a.m.                  VOLUNTEERS: MS is BS OFFICIAL REST STOP OPENS
8:45 a.m.                       All walkers must be on route
11:45 a.m.                      All walkers must be through Roosevelt Island Rest Stop*
1:15 p.m.                        Pre-finish Awards Ceremony
1:45 p.m.                       Depart for West Lawn, U.S. Capitol
2:30 p.m.                      FINISH – Closing Ceremony
3:00 p.m.                      Pick up Luggage/Depart via Shuttle or own transportation

*The Army Ten Miler is also taking place on October 4 and utilizes Memorial Bridge as part of their route.  Any walkers arriving at the Roosevelt Island Rest Stop earlier than 9:45 a.m. will be held here until National Park Service gives the “all clear” allowing us to go across the bridge.  Additionally, any walkers who have not cleared this stop by 11:45 a.m. will be SAG’d to one block from the Pre-Finish.
